My sister and I own property in Lincoln and Jackson Parish. We have heard the oil companies are looking into leasing property in those parishes. We live in Texas and we need information concerning any groups that might help us. Is there anyone in your organization who knows anything about existing leases that were signed 35 to 40 years ago?

Do you have all your documentation at hand to answer specific questions? That would be helpful; also, is there any ongoing or current production on that land in the last 10 years? Do you know?

I do have documentation to answer specific questions. My mother recently passed away and she has been receiving very small royalty checks for numerous years. The checks are very small. There are no wells on our land. The leases were signed in the late 50's and early 60's. They appear to have the clause that says as long as royalties are being paid from a producing well, they lease automatically renews. We have notified the producer Jetta that we want to review the lease and possibly renegotiate the terms. They are supposedly checking it out. We are trying to learn as much as we can and to seek information and expertise in this area.
