My family owns 53 acres in DeSoto Parish but we live all over the country from Chicago, Iowa, Texas, Mississippi to California. I do know that my Mom and her generation had a lease that dated back to 1981. I did some research as to the royalties that were due and the oil company said they didn't have record of our family.....Now, all of a sudden, they know us and know just where to find us when they need to renew a lease. I'm totally outraged but the oil companies and their actions.

I guess I will need the dates as to when the company knew about the shale. That way, they did not inform us very well. I actually just did some research on the company that has our lease and they were "excited" about starting up their drilling in DeSoto parish. It was just a matter of using google....that's how I found you.

Also, when you have the meeting on June12th, will you please let me know the subject matter and the outcome? I hate that I live so far away.

They did not check with an attorney first and accepted $200 each. How long did the oil companies know that this land had natural gas on it? I'm working on a way for us to get out of the leases.
